Premier League outfit Bournemouth have stepped up their pursuit for Franco-Guinean defender Bafode Diakite in the current transfer window.
The 24-year-old centre-back has been on the radar of the Premier League outfit in the past two years. Bournemouth view the Franco-Guinean defender as a perfect player to solidify their defense ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Bournemouth are in the market for a new defender following the departure of Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid in the current window.
However, the Cherries are said to be doing everything possible to secure the signature of Diakite, viewing him as the perfect replacement for Huijsen.
Besides Bournemouth, newly promoted Premier League club Sunderland have also expressed firm interest in the defender.
Diakite has been in the books of Lille since 2022, with his current contract expected to elapse in summer 2028.
