Bournemouth eye Ghana midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi amid Premier League interest

Bournemouth are reportedly exploring a move for Ghana international Caleb Yirenkyi, who has drawn attention from Premier League rivals, including Arsenal.

The 19-year-old midfielder, valued at around £20million, is a product of Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy and has impressed with Danish Superliga side Nordsjaelland.

Yirenkyi began his career as a right-sided midfielder and even made his national team debut at right-back. He now thrives in a holding midfield role, attracting scouts from England over recent months.

Danish media have likened his style to former Chelsea star Michael Essien, who serves as assistant manager at Nordsjaelland and mentors the teenager.

“Michael Essien impacts every player,” Yirenkyi said. “He helps everyone at Nordsjaelland, we learn a lot from him.”

Bournemouth see Yirenkyi as a player who could step into Premier League action and develop into a long-term asset, while Arsenal reportedly view him as a prospect for the future.

The club is conscious of competition for emerging talent. Midfield star Tyler Adams and fellow Ghanaian winger Antoine Semenyo, who has a £65million release clause, are also being tracked by rivals.

By moving early for Yirenkyi, Bournemouth hope to maintain squad depth and ensure they remain competitive at the top of the Premier League. Their recruitment strategy has consistently identified young talents and prepared them for elite English football.

Yirenkyi’s combination of physicality, tactical awareness, and technical skill makes him a versatile option in midfield. Scouts believe his development under Essien and exposure in the Danish top flight have prepared him for the rigours of English football.
