‘Bournemouth deserve European football next season’ – Ghana’s Antoine Semenyo

Antoine Semenyo believes Bournemouth’s pursuit of European football is justified after his early goal secured a 1-0 victory over Fulham at the Vitality Stadium on Monday.

The result ended the Cherries’ eight-game winless streak and elevated them to eighth place in the Premier League standings, keeping their continental ambitions alive.

Semenyo, 25, struck just 53 seconds into the match, capitalizing on a defensive lapse by Fulham’s Antonee Robinson to deliver a composed finish into the bottom corner.

This goal marked his tenth of the season across all competitions, complemented by six assists in 36 appearances, underscoring his pivotal role in Bournemouth’s attacking lineup.

Speaking to Sky Sports post-match, Semenyo emphasized the significance of the win.

“All season long we have been grinding and beating the top six teams. This little phase we are going through, losing and drawing, every team goes through that but that is why this win is so important.

“I feel like what we have done this year we do definitely deserve the European places.”

The victory sees Bournemouth level on 48 points with Fulham and Brighton after 32 games, just six points behind Aston Villa, who currently occupy the final guaranteed European spot.
