Adil Bourabaa is planning a move to a more ambitious club next season, with a place in a European competition among his main objectives once he completes his recovery from injury.
The Algeria international, who plays for Le Mans, is progressing through rehabilitation after undergoing surgery. His immediate priority is to return to full fitness, but he is already looking beyond his comeback and hopes to attract interest from a leading Ligue 1 side.
Bourabaa was injured while representing Algeria in a friendly against Niger in September last year. The problem required an operation and brought a promising start to his season to an abrupt halt.
His agent, Souleymane Ba, gave an optimistic assessment of the player’s recovery when speaking to Maghreb-Foot. Bourabaa has already begun his rehabilitation programme and is maintaining a positive outlook, although he still has further work to complete before he can return to competitive action.
The injury interrupted a period in which the young forward had been making a strong impression for Le Mans. His performances had produced a succession of encouraging displays and appeared to confirm the potential he had previously shown.
He had also seemed to be developing into a more influential player in the French league before the setback. Rather than allowing the absence to affect his ambitions, however, Bourabaa intends to use the recovery period as preparation for the next stage of his career.
A source close to the situation told Maghreb-Foot that the player already has a clear idea of what he wants to achieve next.
Bourabaa would like to join a club competing at a higher level, ideally one involved in European competition. Such a move would give him the opportunity to increase his profile, test himself against stronger opposition and continue his development in a more demanding environment.
He also hopes that progress at club level will strengthen his position with Algeria. Regular football for a bigger club could help him establish himself more firmly with the national team and secure a lasting place in the plans of the manager.
Despite interest in taking the next step, Bourabaa’s preference is to remain in France. According to the same source, he is prioritising ambitious Ligue 1 clubs because he wants to continue adapting to French football while advancing his career.
His rise has been described in terms of a valuation increasing from €500,000 to €3.5m, reflecting the growing expectations surrounding the Algeria international.
For now, the focus remains on completing his rehabilitation without rushing his return. Le Mans are due to play their 10th-round match in the French championship against AS Monaco, but Bourabaa’s longer-term objective is clear: recover his best form and earn a move that can raise his status both at club level and with Algeria.
