Bouba Barry: Left winger and free agent weighs options after club exit

Nuhu Adams

Bouba Barry has left Utebo FC and is now a free agent after his contract with the Spanish club ended, confirming his move to the status of “Without Club” on a permanent basis. The transfer was completed on 2026-02-02, with no fee involved and his deal at Utebo FC running formally until 2026-02-02.

The Guinea-born left winger, valued at €50k, departs the Segunda Federación side without a transfer compensation changing hands, entering the open market at 23 years of age. The move ends his short spell at Utebo, where he had arrived from UE Cornellà ahead of the 25/26 season, and places him among the pool of unattached players eligible to sign for any club outside the traditional transfer window constraints.

Barry’s latest switch marks the continuation of a career spent entirely in Spanish football so far. Before Utebo FC, he featured for UE Cornellà and Cádiz CF Mirandilla, after earlier spells with Vélez CF, Salamanca CF UDS, Recreativo Huelva and UD Los Barrios, as well as progressing through the Cádiz CF U19 setup. Across these clubs he has operated primarily as an attacking left winger, cutting in from the flank on his stronger left foot.

His market value evolution underlines both promise and volatility. While at Cádiz CF Mirandilla his valuation climbed as high as €100k during the 2023–24 period, it later adjusted downward to €50k following his time at UE Cornellà and then Utebo FC. As of the latest assessment with Utebo, he stands at €50k, a figure that could appeal to clubs in lower top-flight or ambitious second-tier divisions seeking affordable attacking depth.

The confirmed move to free agency also means Barry is no longer tied to any league structure, with his last registered competition being Spain’s Segunda Federación – Group II via Utebo FC. His career path to date has kept him abroad from his home country, Guinea, developing exclusively in Spain rather than in domestic Guinean football. That foreign-based trajectory is now set to continue, with his next destination likely to keep him outside his homeland’s league system.

Previous loan spells at Salamanca CF UDS, Recreativo Huelva and UD Los Barrios from Cádiz CF Mirandilla highlight a career built on adaptation to different tactical setups and competition levels in Spain’s lower divisions. Each return from loan – back to Cádiz CF Mirandilla – preceded another move, reflecting a player regularly on the move but consistently trusted to operate on the left side of the attack.

With no active contract beyond 2026-02-02, Barry is free to negotiate immediately with interested clubs. His combination of age, experience in multiple Spanish clubs and modest market value suggests there will be options for him in similar or higher tiers, either remaining in Spain or exploring other European markets. How he capitalises on this new phase as a free agent will go a long way to determining the next chapter of his career and whether he can convert early promise and steady development into a stable, long-term role at a new club.
