Botola Pro: Champions MAS Fes fight back to beat Renaissance Zemamra in season opener

Moroccan champions MAS Fes came from behind to beat Renaissance Zemamra 2-1 in the opening round of the Botola Pro on Sunday.

The reigning champions fell behind early in the second half at the Grand Stadium of Fes before turning the game around with goals from Mabasa and Anas Mahraoui.

Zemamra take the lead

Renaissance Zemamra broke the deadlock three minutes after the restart when Jawad Al-Saghir found the net in the 48th minute.

MAS Fes responded by increasing the pressure as they looked to avoid beginning their title defence with a defeat.

Their efforts paid off in the 59th minute when Mabasa converted from the penalty spot to bring the champions level.

Mahraoui completes comeback

MAS Fes completed the turnaround five minutes later when Anas Mahraoui scored in the 64th minute to put the hosts 2-1 ahead.

The goal proved decisive as the Moroccan champions held on to secure all three points and begin their Botola Pro campaign with a victory.
