Moroccan champions Maghreb de Fès are set to complete the signing of defender Abdellah Khafifi on a free transfer following his departure from Raja Club Athletic.

The Botola Pro title holders have reached a final agreement with the experienced centre-back, with only administrative formalities remaining before the move is officially confirmed.

Experienced defender joins on free transfer

Khafifi has agreed to a two-year contract with the Fez-based club after ending his spell at Raja.

The 32-year-old began his senior career with hometown club Mouloudia Oujda, where he established himself as one of the Botola Pro’s experienced central defenders before moving to Qatar Stars League side Umm Salal in 2022.

After a season in Qatar, he returned to Morocco in 2023 to join Raja, where he became a regular in the heart of the defence.

Title-winning pedigree for CAF campaign

During his time in Casablanca, Khafifi helped Raja win the 2023-24 Botola Pro title without suffering a single league defeat. The club also lifted the Throne Cup to complete a domestic double after defeating AS FAR in the final.

The defender has also represented Morocco’s locally based national team, featuring in training camps and matches between 2019 and 2021.

His arrival is expected to add valuable experience to Maghreb de Fès as the club prepares to defend its Botola Pro crown and compete in next season’s CAF Champions League after securing a first league title in more than 40 years during the 2025-26 campaign.
