Borussia Dortmund weighing Folarin Balogun move

Folarin Balogun has emerged as a Borussia Dortmund target as the Bundesliga club look at options to strengthen their attack this summer. The Monaco striker is being considered as a possible replacement if Serhou Guirassy leaves, with Dortmund planning for every scenario after the forward was linked with an exit.

Dortmund eye Balogun

Balogun’s strong World Cup form has kept him in the spotlight, and his output for Monaco has only added to his appeal. He joined the French club from Arsenal on 30 August 2023 on a five-year deal worth an initial €30 million, with add-ons that could lift the total to €40 million. That move came after a prolific loan spell at Reims, where he scored 21 goals in 37 Ligue 1 matches during the 2022-23 season.

Why he fits

The 24-year-old is seen as a mobile, direct striker who can stretch defences and bring goals from different areas of the box. Dortmund are also weighing other names, but Balogun’s profile makes him an attractive option if funds become available through a sale. For now, Monaco remain in control of the situation, yet interest from Germany suggests Balogun’s stock continues to rise sharply.
