Borussia Dortmund are set to face VfL Wolfsburg on Saturday afternoon without Karim Adeyemi, after the winger was unexpectedly left out of the travelling squad.
According to Ruhr Nachrichten, the 24-year-old will not be available for the away match at the Volkswagen Arena, scheduled for Saturday.
Observations around the team’s departure revealed that Adeyemi left the training ground early in the afternoon in his private car, just minutes before the two team buses set off for Wolfsburg.
Earlier in the day, he had reportedly taken part in the final training session with the rest of the squad, suggesting the decision came relatively late.
Head coach Niko Kovač will therefore have to adjust his attacking plans without the pacey forward, who remains an important option in Dortmund’s front line. As of now, there has been no official clarification from the club regarding the exact reason for Adeyemi’s absence, leaving fans and fantasy managers guessing ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.
The situation adds another layer of uncertainty around a player whose availability has often been a talking point in recent seasons.
