Borussia Dortmund monitor French-Ivorian defender Joane Gadou
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in 19-year-old French-Ivorian defender Joane Gadou following impressive performances for RB Salzburg this season.
The central defender has established himself as a key figure in the Salzburg side under coach Daniel Beichler, starting 29 of 31 appearances across all competitions, including his debut in both Champions League qualifiers and the Europa League group stage.
Despite a recent 1-0 defeat to Rapid Vienna, Gadou delivered a solid performance that reportedly caught the attention of Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl, who attended the match at the Allianz Stadium.
According to Transferfeed, Borussia Dortmund view Gadou as a potential cornerstone for their defensive rebuilding project.
While no official approach has been made, the club is understood to be closely monitoring the player ahead of the summer transfer window.
Securing the defender may prove challenging, as Gadou is under contract with Salzburg until June 2029 and valued at around €30 million.
Competition for his signature is expected to be fierce, with interest reported from FC Barcelona and the potential involvement of Paris Saint-Germain, his formative club, which retains a buy-back option.
Currently valued at €12 million by Transfermarkt, Gadou’s rapid rise has marked him out as one of Europe’s most promising young defenders.
His performances in the Austrian league and European competitions have demonstrated both maturity and consistency beyond his years.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Dortmund may consider a significant investment to secure Gadou’s services.
The young defender’s potential to strengthen the Bundesliga club’s backline could make him a pivotal figure in their future project, despite the challenges posed by contract terms and competition from other European giants.
