Borussia Dortmund concerned over Guinea striker Serhou Guirassy’s dip in form

Serhou Guirassy’s recent performances have raised questions at Borussia Dortmund, as the Guinean striker appears to be struggling to maintain the prolific scoring form that defined the early stages of his season.

Following a standout spell with VfB Stuttgart, where he emerged as one of the Bundesliga’s top attacking threats, Guirassy completed a high-profile move to Dortmund, signing a deal that runs until June 2028.

His arrival was met with optimism, and the 29-year-old wasted no time in making an impact. He netted six goals in his first five appearances, showcasing the same clinical finishing and intelligent movement that made him a target for several top clubs.

By the beginning of March 2025, Guirassy had racked up 24 goals and three assists in 32 appearances across all competitions—a tally that firmly established him as one of Dortmund’s key attacking assets.

His early-season form played a pivotal role in helping the team navigate domestic fixtures and European commitments with confidence.

However, in recent weeks, there has been a noticeable dip. Over his last six appearances, Guirassy has scored just once and provided a single assist, a sharp contrast to the rhythm and regularity with which he had previously found the net.

His current record stands at 25 goals and five assists from 38 matches in all competitions—still impressive on paper, but a clear sign that his momentum has slowed at a crucial juncture in the campaign.

The sudden decrease in output has inevitably drawn attention, especially with Dortmund entering the final and most demanding stretch of the season.

With Champions League qualification on the line, the club is counting on its most experienced players to deliver when it matters most.

The concern lies not in the overall statistics, which remain commendable, but rather in the timing and consistency of Guirassy’s recent performances.

His inability to replicate his early-season form could become a significant factor if the team struggles to find goals in critical fixtures. For a club with high expectations and a competitive domestic landscape, every point matters.

Coaching staff and supporters alike will be hoping that Guirassy can rediscover his sharpness in front of goal.

Whether it’s a temporary lapse or a sign of fatigue remains to be seen, but Dortmund will need their forward firing again to strengthen their bid for a top-four finish.

Despite the slump, Guirassy’s quality and experience are not in question. His contribution throughout the season has already proven valuable, and his ability to bounce back will be crucial in the coming weeks.

As the Bundesliga campaign nears its conclusion, the Guinean international will have the chance to silence the doubts and reassert his status as one of the league’s top marksmen.
