Borussia Dortmund close in on Ivory Coast youngster Joane Gadou
Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of completing the signing of highly-rated young defender Joane Gadou ahead of the summer transfer window.
The German giants has reportedly reached an agreement in principle with RB Salzburg for the acquisition of the Franco-Ivorian centre-back.
The 19-year-old has already arrived in Dortmund ahead of the final stages of the transfer process, with the move expected to be officially confirmed in the coming days.
The transfer represents another major statement of intent from Borussia Dortmund, who continue to strengthen their reputation as one of Europe’s leading destinations for elite young talent.
Gadou is regarded as one of the most promising defenders of his generation and has attracted attention across Europe following an impressive breakthrough season with RB Salzburg.
The talented centre-back featured prominently throughout the campaign, making 33 appearances across all competitions and establishing himself as a key figure in Salzburg’s defensive setup despite his young age.
He also gained valuable continental experience by playing seven matches in the UEFA Europa League, where he showcased his composure, athleticism and maturity against high-level opposition.
Known for his physical presence, intelligent positioning and confidence in possession, Gadou has earned praise for his ability to play out from the back while remaining defensively solid under pressure.
Dortmund’s interest in the teenager aligns perfectly with the club’s long-standing strategy of investing in emerging stars and helping them develop into top-level players.
The Bundesliga giants have previously enjoyed enormous success nurturing young talents before transforming them into world-class performers, and Gadou is now expected to become the latest addition to that development pathway.
His arrival could also provide valuable long-term reinforcement for Dortmund’s defensive unit as the club continues to build for both domestic and European competition.
For RB Salzburg, Gadou’s impending departure represents another example of the Austrian club’s exceptional ability to identify, develop and showcase elite young footballers on the European stage.
Although the financial details of the agreement have not yet been officially disclosed, expectations are growing that the move will soon be finalised, with Gadou already taking significant steps toward beginning the next chapter of his career in Germany.
The teenager will now hope to continue his rapid rise at one of Europe’s most competitive clubs as Borussia Dortmund look to secure another future star for the years ahead.
