Bordeaux striker Thomas Touré sets sights on Champions League qualification
Bordeaux are showing signs of resurgence. After a rocky start to the season, the Girondins are now unbeaten in 11 matches across all competitions, and confidence is growing within the squad. Striker Thomas Touré believes this new momentum could push Bordeaux toward lofty ambitions, including a potential place in the Champions League.
“We want to play the cups to the fullest. We’re one match away from the Stade de France in the Coupe de la Ligue. In the league, we’re clearly aiming for second place. It’s easily achievable. It’s going fast,” Touré said in an interview with *France Football*.
The forward believes that Paris Saint-Germain remain untouchable at the top of Ligue 1, but insists that the race for second place remains wide open. “Behind Paris, we know that Angers, Nice, and Saint-Étienne will inevitably drop points. We’re paying attention to Monaco but we’re not going to mince words or just say we’re playing in Europe. We’ve been criticized a lot but we’re only five points off the podium.”
To achieve this ambitious goal, Bordeaux must show greater consistency. So far, the Aquitaine club has managed only 7 wins in 22 Ligue 1 fixtures this season. Turning draws into victories will be the key if they want to climb into the Champions League places.
With confidence restored, cup opportunities ahead, and key players regaining form, Bordeaux’s trajectory is turning upward. Whether they can convert this unbeaten run into a top-two finish will depend on their ability to maintain intensity during the crucial months ahead.
