Henri Saivet successfully extended his contract with Girondins de Bordeaux for three more seasons until June 2017, as mentioned in the press briefing nearly two weeks ago. The agreement was reached after several weeks of negotiations. Saivet, who is a versatile attacking midfielder, has been a key player for the team, starting eight times in the championship and scoring two goals in the league so far in the current season.
Having been with Girondins de Bordeaux since a young age, Saivet became the youngest player to sign professionally with the club at the age of 16. Now 22 years old, he has developed into a significant player for the team. In the 2012-2013 season, he played 34 matches in Ligue 1, scoring 8 goals, and contributed to the team’s victory in the Coupe de France with a crucial goal in the final.
Saivet, who holds both French and Senegalese nationality, has represented both countries at the youth level. Eventually, he decided to play for the Senegalese national team under coach Alain Giresse. He was set to face Ivory Coast alongside Lamine Sané in the qualification matches for the 2014 World Cup.
