Cheick Diabaté Returns to Training Ahead of Bordeaux vs. Caen Clash
Willy Sagnol has received a boost ahead of Ligue 1 Matchday 10, as Cheick Diabaté has resumed group training and may feature against Caen. The Malian striker had been out for two weeks with an injury and missed both of Mali’s 2015 AFCON qualifiers, but is now back in contention.
Squad Situation:
While Diabaté’s return is encouraging, the rest of the squad remains depleted:
Diego Contento is still on an individual program with physiotherapists.
Tiago Ilori, Lamine Sané, Henri Saivet, Jussiê, and Théo Pellenard are still undergoing treatment.
Kaabouni was rested.
Nicolas Maurice-Belay was excused due to personal reasons.
Wahbi Khazri (Tunisia) and André Poko (Gabon) had not returned from international duty by Thursday morning.
With only 13 outfield players and 3 goalkeepers in Thursday’s collective session, Sagnol faces a selection challenge, though no CFA (reserve) players were yet called up for reinforcement.
If cleared to play, Diabaté’s physical presence and finishing could be a key asset for Bordeaux in this important home fixture.
