Lamine Sané Returns to Bordeaux Camp Focused and Rejuvenated
Bordeaux – Senegalese international Lamine Sané has rejoined Bordeaux for pre-season training, ready to tackle the challenges of the upcoming campaign after a productive break.
Speaking to the club’s official channel, the central defender shared his thoughts on returning to work after the summer break: “Honestly, we had a good vacation, and now it’s time to put our overalls back on,” he said with a smile. “We’re working very well, I’m happy to be back with my teammates and the staff.”
Sané also reflected positively on his recent international duty with Senegal, who opened their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a strong 3-1 win. “We got a good result with the national team. It was a good way to end the season,” he noted.
Following national team duties, the Bordeaux captain took time to recharge with a short trip to New York. “It was a chance to rest a little and enjoy myself,” he said.
Addressing questions about the timing of his return, Sané dismissed any notion of a delay. “No, I wasn’t late. I think the coach adjusted the schedule fairly — those who finished early had their break, and those of us with the national team got our rest after,” he explained.
Now back in full training, Sané admitted that regaining peak fitness has been a challenge: “We’re making up for lost time. It’s not easy coming back, it’s even very difficult. Especially here in Going — it’s all slopes! We only go up, we don’t go down,” he joked, highlighting the intensity of the training camp.
With his usual blend of leadership and humour, Sané is fully engaged in Bordeaux’s preparations, eager to help the team build on last season and push for greater success in the new campaign.
