BORDEAUX BIDS FAREWELL TO CLUB LEGEND MARC PLANUS
After 26 years at FC Girondins de Bordeaux, including 13 seasons with the senior team, Marc Planus is set to hang up his boots at the end of the current campaign. The 33-year-old defender, who joined the club as a 7-year-old and remained faithful throughout his career, leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, professionalism, and silverware.
With 298 Ligue 1 appearances for Bordeaux since his debut in 2002, Planus was a key figure in the club’s most successful periods, including their 2009 Ligue 1 title win and multiple Coupe de la Ligue and Trophée des Champions triumphs.
Among the many tributes pouring in, one came from Wahbi Khazri, who praised Planus’ off-pitch influence:
“He’s really a good guy, professional… He gave a lot of advice to the young players, like me when I arrived… He’s been an example for a lot of people.”
Though he featured less in recent seasons, Planus remained an integral part of the squad culture, earning the admiration of teammates, staff, and supporters alike. His retirement marks the end of an era at Bordeaux — a farewell to one of the club’s true one-club men.
