Guillaume Hoarau Confirms Bordeaux Departure, RC Lens Show Interest
Guillaume Hoarau has officially confirmed that he will not be extending his stay at Bordeaux beyond the current season. The former Paris Saint-Germain striker joined the Girondins in January on a short-term six-month deal, but has now revealed his decision to move on once the campaign concludes.
Speaking to beIN Sports, Hoarau was candid about his intentions:
“My goal is to help Bordeaux get as many points as possible by the end of the season, perhaps with a little goal. That way, I can leave with peace of mind.”
The 30-year-old forward has struggled to secure a regular place in Francis Gillot’s starting line-up since his return to Ligue 1, but remains a respected figure in the dressing room thanks to his experience and professionalism.
Hoarau’s decision to leave opens up the next chapter in his career, and according to Sport.fr, he is already attracting interest. RC Lens, who are pushing for promotion from Ligue 2, are reportedly monitoring the Reunion native as a potential reinforcement for their attacking line next season.
Hoarau rose to prominence with PSG between 2008 and 2013, and has since had stints in China with Dalian Aerbin and briefly with Swiss side Young Boys before returning to France. With his physical presence and aerial ability, he remains an appealing option for several clubs looking to add depth and leadership up front.
As the season nears its conclusion, all eyes will be on where Hoarau heads next—and whether he can provide Bordeaux with a final contribution before bidding farewell.
