Bordeaux Weigh Future of Diego Rolan Amid Interest from Newcastle; Jordan Ayew Linked as Replacement
Bordeaux face uncertainty over the future of Uruguayan striker Diego Rolan, who enjoyed a solid 2014-2015 campaign with the Girondins. The 22-year-old has attracted interest from English clubs, notably Newcastle United, raising questions about whether Bordeaux will retain him for the coming season.
According to Sud Ouest, Bordeaux are already exploring potential replacements and have identified Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew as a leading target. Ayew, currently at Lorient, made a strong impression after joining the club from Marseille for around €4 million last year and has quickly become a key player for the French side.
However, Bordeaux will face stiff competition in their pursuit of the Ghanaian international. Lorient are keen to hold on to Ayew and have no immediate plans to sell. To secure his services, Bordeaux would likely need to offer at least double the fee Lorient paid, a significant investment.
Meanwhile, Lille OSC have also expressed interest in Jordan Ayew, potentially complicating negotiations further. For Bordeaux, the coming weeks will be critical as they decide whether to cash in on Rolan and fight for Ayew’s signature—or keep faith in their current squad.
