Bologna are pushing to secure the signing of Ivorian international winger Bénie Traoré from FC Basel before the close of the summer transfer window.

The Serie A side have identified the 22-year-old as a key attacking reinforcement and are reportedly prepared to offer around €10 million for his services.

However, Basel are reluctant to part with one of their most influential players and have set their asking price between €15 million and €18 million, creating a significant gap in valuations.

Traoré has become a central figure in Basel’s tactical set-up, delivering consistently impressive performances since his arrival.

Last season, he featured in 36 league matches, registering 13 goals and 8 assists — numbers that underline both his scoring ability and creative influence from the flanks.

His pace, dribbling skill and direct style have made him one of the most dangerous wingers in the Swiss Super League.

Despite Bologna’s determination, prising the player away from St. Jakob-Park will be no simple task.

The Ivorian is under contract with Basel until June 2028, giving the club considerable leverage in negotiations.

His current market value is estimated at €10 million, but Basel’s stance suggests they believe his worth exceeds that figure, particularly given his impact and potential for further growth.

Bologna’s interest reflects their ambition to strengthen their squad ahead of the new campaign, with Traoré seen as a player capable of adding dynamism and unpredictability to their attack.

The Italian club have been active in exploring offensive options this summer, and Traoré’s profile — young, technically gifted and with a proven end product — fits their strategy.

For Basel, the potential loss of Traoré would be a major blow.

Beyond his contributions on the pitch, he has become a fan favourite and an important part of the team’s identity.

The club’s firm stance on the fee signals their intent to keep him unless an offer meets their valuation.

As the transfer window progresses, the coming weeks will determine whether Bologna can raise their bid to match Basel’s demands or whether the Swiss side will succeed in holding on to their prized asset.

For now, the situation remains at a standstill — but with both clubs under pressure to finalise their squads, developments could come quickly.
