Bolkiah wins September Roshn Saudi League goalkeeper award ahead of Bono

Poland goalkeeper Marcin Bulka has been named the Roshn Saudi League’s goalkeeper of the month for September, beating a number of high-profile contenders including Al Hilal’s Morocco international Yassine Bounou.

Bulka played a key role in Neom’s perfect run during the month, helping the club secure three consecutive victories. His award has prompted comparisons with Bounou, who also went through September without conceding a goal in any of his three appearances.

Bulka helps Neom to three wins

Bulka kept two clean sheets in his three matches for Neom.

The first came in a 3-0 victory over Al Khaleej. He then produced another shutout in Neom’s historic 2-0 win against Al Hilal, helping his side contain one of the Roshn Saudi League’s leading attacks.

Neom’s third match of the month ended in a 4-2 victory over Al Taawoun. Bulka conceded twice in that game, but Neom secured another important result. He therefore ended September with three wins and three goals conceded.

The Polish goalkeeper’s contribution was not limited to benefiting from Neom’s attacking strength. His saves and composure helped the team protect its leads, particularly in the victory over Al Hilal, when Neom stopped the league’s leading side from scoring.

The three straight wins, including the success against Al Hilal, underlined Neom’s ability to compete with the division’s biggest clubs. Bulka’s performances also established him as one of the team’s most important players.

Bounou also enjoyed an unbeaten month

Bounou produced equally impressive figures for Al Hilal during September. He started three matches, against Al Ahli, Al Shabab and Al Taawoun, and kept a clean sheet in each of them.

Al Hilal defeated Al Ahli 3-0 before beating Al Shabab 2-0. They then recorded a comprehensive 6-0 victory over Al Taawoun, with Bounou completing the month without conceding.

His performances confirmed the Moroccan goalkeeper’s consistency and influence, despite the award going to Bulka.

Bulka’s recognition does not suggest that Bounou had a poor month. On the contrary, both goalkeepers produced outstanding statistics and played important roles for their clubs. The award went to the Neom goalkeeper in the context of his team’s three wins during the same period, including the notable victory over Al Hilal.
