Yann M’Vila, the Franco-Congolese international, has decided to appeal his suspension from national selections until July 2014. Thierry Fillion, M’Vila’s lawyer, announced the decision, stating that the appeal will be sent to the higher committee of the French Football Federation (FFF) in the coming week.
According to Fillion, the severity of the sanction imposed on M’Vila is deemed disproportionate to the offense committed. He expressed the view that the appeal aims for a more fitting penalty, taking into account the nature of the fault and M’Vila’s personal circumstances. The appeal does not seek to establish a specific deadline for the end of M’Vila’s suspension but rather to advocate for a fair and just decision.
M’Vila, along with Antoine Griezmann, Mbaye Niang, Wissem Ben Yedder, and Chris Mavinga, faced suspension from all selections by the FFF. This disciplinary action followed their unauthorized departure from the Espoirs selection in Le Havre to go on a nightclub trip to Paris between two playoff matches for Euro 2013 qualifiers against Norway. Reports suggest that M’Vila was considered an “instigator” of the trip, contributing to the severity of the sanction.
