Giannelli Imbula appears to have reflected on his actions and expressed remorse after being left out of the France Espoirs (Under-21) team by coach Willy Sagnol due to his behavior during a match against Iceland. In an interview with L’Équipe, the Olympique de Marseille midfielder admitted his fault, acknowledging that he had a reaction he shouldn’t have had.
“I had a reaction that I shouldn’t have had,” Imbula confessed. “It doesn’t have to be done again, and I won’t do it again. Now, I will give everything to find the selection jersey, quite simply. (…) This will serve as a lesson to me; I will not do it again,” he added with remorse.
Imbula has been going through a challenging period lately, not only being excluded from the France Espoirs team but also losing his starting place at Olympique de Marseille. He attributes this situation to the “downward slope” he finds himself on. The midfielder expresses a determination to learn from the experience and work towards returning to his best level. Only time will tell how he responds to this challenging phase in his career.
