Blessed Iyamu: Rivers United sign Nigeria defensive midfielder from Kun Khalifat FC
Rivers United have signed Nigeria midfielder Blessed Iyamu from Kun Khalifat FC. The 23-year-old defensive midfielder joins the Port Harcourt club ahead of the 2026-27 NPFL season after a move completed on 23 July.
Iyamu, who operates primarily in front of the back four, arrives with a listed market value of €50,000 and strengthens the central options available to Rivers United. The club have not disclosed contract details but confirmed the transfer as a completed deal.
The move continues a swift rise for Iyamu, who was born on 22 January 2003 and has established himself in Nigerian club football over the past year. He joined Kun Khalifat FC in January 2026 from Al-Rissala SC and now makes a second transfer in the space of seven months.
Iyamu’s switch keeps him in the NPFL and marks a step up to a club with regular ambitions in the upper reaches of the Nigerian top flight. His profile as a specialist defensive midfielder offers Rivers United an additional shield in front of their defence and greater depth for domestic competition.
Having already adapted to different club environments in quick succession, Iyamu now faces the task of settling at Rivers United and competing for a place in midfield. The Nigerian becomes one of the club’s latest additions as they shape their squad for the new campaign.
With the deal confirmed, Iyamu is now registered as a Rivers United player for the 2026-27 season.
