Blaise Matuidi: “Winning Four Titles in One Season Is Fantastic”

PSG Clinch Historic Quadruple as Matuidi Eyes Greater Heights

Paris Saint-Germain have capped off a dominant domestic season with an unprecedented clean sweep of French football’s major honours, securing a historic quadruple following their 1-0 Coupe de France final win over Ligue 2 side Auxerre on Saturday.

The victory at the Stade de France, sealed by a second-half header from Edinson Cavani, added the prestigious Coupe de France to PSG’s already bulging trophy cabinet this season — which includes the Ligue 1 title, the Coupe de la Ligue, and the Trophée des Champions. No French club has ever won all four domestic trophies in a single campaign before.

Speaking after the triumph, midfielder Blaise Matuidi praised the team’s achievements and looked ahead to new ambitions:

“We’ve had an extraordinary season. Winning four titles in a single year is fantastic — it’s never been done before. Maybe one day we’ll do even better. That’s the goal when you play for a club like PSG.”

Matuidi, who played a pivotal role throughout the season, admitted the campaign had been long and demanding, but deeply satisfying.

“It’s been a long season, but a great one. I’ve had the chance to savour these moments with my loved ones, and I’m enjoying every minute of it.”

Now turning his attention to international duty, the 28-year-old is back with Les Bleus ahead of France’s friendly fixture against Albania on 13 June, which will mark the final match of his season.

“I’m fully focused on the national team now. I’m enjoying being back with this group, and I’m happy to end the season on a high with France.”

PSG’s domestic dominance has intensified calls for success on the European stage. The Parisians reached the Champions League quarter-finals this season before being eliminated by Barcelona. For Matuidi and his teammates, continental glory remains the next great frontier.
