Blackburn midfielder Sidnei Tavares attracts Jagiellonia interest
Cape Verdean-Portuguese midfielder Sidnei Tavares is being linked with a move from Blackburn to Polish club Jagiellonia, with the 24-year-old potentially heading to the Ekstraklasa.
The reported interest comes with Tavares yet to feature in the Championship this season. He has made one appearance in the EFL Cup campaign, without scoring, and has not started a match.
Tavares joined Blackburn from Moreirense on 1 July 2025 in a deal worth €2m. The defensive midfielder had spent the previous season at Moreirense after leaving Porto, having returned to Portugal following a loan spell with Colorado in the United States.
He began his senior career with Leicester City’s academy and was part of the club’s set-up when Leicester won the English FA Cup in 2021. Tavares later moved to Porto in 2021 before continuing his development through loan and permanent moves.
Blackburn remain in control of his situation, with Tavares contracted at Ewood Park until 30 June 2028. There is no indication that a transfer to Jagiellonia has been agreed, and the rumour remains at the stage of reported interest.
