The Black Stars will depart from Accra on Tuesday as they intensify preparations for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifiers. Following an initial training session at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday afternoon, the team is set to continue its build-up in Kumasi.
Monday’s session saw the participation of ten players, including goalkeepers Frederick Asare and Joseph Wollacott, as well as outfield players Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Thomas Partey, Antoine Semenyo, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Ebenezer Annan, Jonas Adjetey, Tariq Lamptey, and Ibrahim Osman.
The technical team, who narrowly avoided a road accident on Sunday, closely monitored the session.
Later that evening, key players Mohammed Kudus, Majeed Ashimeru, and Inaki Williams joined the camp, bringing the squad closer to full strength.
Norwich City midfielder Forson Amankwah has also been called up to replace the injured Elisha Owusu.
With the squad nearly complete, the Ghana Football Association confirmed the team’s next steps: “The technical team expects a full squad ahead of the trip to Kumasi, where the players will train at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Tuesday and Wednesday.”
Ghana’s Black Stars are gearing up for a crucial encounter against Angola on Thursday, September 5.
Following that, they will travel to Berkane, Morocco, where they will face Niger in their second Group F match on Monday, September 9, 2024.
The team aims to secure two victories to kickstart their qualifying campaign on a positive note.
