Ghana international Jordan Ayew is excited to score at Anfield despite Leicester City’s defeat against Liverpool.
The Black Stars midfielder started and played full throttle of the match as the Foxes succumbed to defeat against Liverpool at Anfield on Thursday.
Ayew showcased his striking prowess with a superb goal for Leicester City, but it was not enough to save his outfit from defeat as Liverpool staged a strong comeback to secure 3-1 victory on home turf.
Speaking after the game, the former Crystal Palace star expressed it’s always nice to score at Anfield.
“It’s always nice to score especially at Anfield. It doesn’t happen all the time but I think the most important thing for me was to help the team. We tried our best. We can come out of the game with our heads high, knowing that we’ve given all”
“We showed a good faces of ourselves and we just need to continue like this, stay positive because obviously, the season is going to be a roller coaster”
Ayew commended Leicester City fans for the unwavering support despite defeat against Liverpool.
“The fans were good today. We need them to back us up. In moment like this, we need them. We will give our all and we will see where we will be” he added.
Liverpool were handed an early scare in the much-anticipated clash after the former Crystal Palace star gave the Foxes the lead, just six minutes into the game.
Receiving a well-placed pass from Stephy Mavididi, the Ghanaian forward demonstrated remarkable composure, slotting the ball past Liverpool’s defense with a clinical finish.
Despite Ayew’s early strike, Liverpool responded with determination. Cody Gakpo equalized in the dying minutes of the first half, ensuring the teams went into the break on level terms.
However, Liverpool showcased determination in the second half of the game to snatch victory over their opponent.
England international Curtis Jones found the net, four minutes into the second half to put Liverpool in front before Egyptian star Mohammed Salah scored in the 82nd minute to cement the win for the Reds.
Jordan Ayew has been impressive since joining Leicester City from Crystal Palace in the summer. He has racked up five goals and provided an assist from 20 appearances across competitions.
