AS Monaco are finalising a deal to sign Barcelona winger Ansu Fati, with a medical scheduled for later this week ahead of a proposed move to the Ligue 1 side.
The transfer is being structured as a loan agreement with a buy option included, as both clubs iron out the final details.
Fati, who was born in Guinea-Bissau before moving to Spain at a young age, represents La Roja internationally but maintains strong ties to his West African heritage.
The 22-year-old has struggled to secure consistent minutes at Barcelona since his return from long-term injury and is now set for a fresh start in the French top flight.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano provided the latest update on the deal, stating: “Understand AS Monaco are planning for Ansu Fati’s medical this week.
“Monaco and Barcelona are completing all details of the agreement on loan with buy option clause. Here we go, still expected soon.”
Fati spent a season on loan at Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, where he showed flashes of his potential despite limited appearances.
Monaco, looking to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, see Fati as a valuable addition who can rejuvenate his career in a less pressurised environment.
The move also allows Barcelona to offload wages while potentially retaining future value, depending on how the buy clause is structured.
Monaco are expected to announce the transfer once the medical is successfully completed and paperwork finalised.
