Scoring one of the goals of the season in Ligue 1 should have been the launchpad for Bilal Brahimi’s career, but the former STVV winger has instead drifted from club to club in search of stability.
After a loan spell at Stade Rennes, OGC Nice sent him to Sint-Truiden, where early promise quickly faded. Brahimi scored on his debut against OH Leuven and tried his luck with countless crosses and shots, yet finished the 2024/25 campaign with only 2 goals and 4 assists in 28 games, part of STVV’s near‑disastrous season.
Seen as a talent who, like Didier Lamkel Zé or Loïc Lapoussin, could bring extra creativity, Brahimi ultimately paid the price for not fully living the professional life the game demands.
STVV chose not to trigger his purchase option and Nice did not reintegrate him. Instead, Santos FC in Brazil handed him a contract until December 2026, but he played just 20 minutes in one league match and spent most of his time on the bench or out of the squad.
In February, the 25‑year‑old moved again, this time on loan to Portuguese mid-table side Estrela Amadora, where he started out as a substitute against Santa Clara, still chasing the breakthrough his talent once promised.
