The Africa Top Sports Awards for 2013 includes ten athletes competing for the title. Yaya Touré, despite leading the race, was caught and overtaken by cyclist Natnael Berhane. The voting community on Africa Top Sports seems to be favoring Cristiano Ronaldo over Yaya Touré for the Ballon d’Or. Touré, who qualified for the next World Cup with Ivory Coast, is a prominent figure in African football. However, he didn’t win any major titles in 2013. On the other hand, Natnael Berhane, the Eritrean cyclist, finished second in the Tour of Turkey and is considered a rising star in world cycling. The community can vote until January 5, and the winner will succeed Daniel Teklehaymanot as the Africa Top Sports Athlete of the Year. Other categories include Best African Coach, Best African Sportswoman, Best African Club, Best Communicator on Networks, and African Sporting Event of the Year.
