Besiktas weigh move for Leverkusen winger Ernest Poku
Dutch-Ghanaian winger Ernest Poku is being linked with a move from Leverkusen to Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig.
Poku, 22, joined Leverkusen from AZ Alkmaar in August 2025 for a reported €10m and is currently valued at €25m. He signed a contract running until 30 June 2030, meaning Leverkusen are under no immediate pressure to sell if interest develops into a formal approach.
The right winger has yet to feature for Leverkusen in the current campaign, recording no appearances in the DFB-Pokal. His lack of competitive action comes after his first season at the Bundesliga club, where he made the step from AZ Alkmaar to senior football in Germany.
Poku was developed at AZ and won the UEFA Youth League with the club’s under-19 side in 2022-23. He also collected the Dutch Under-19 Youth Cup in 2023.
A move to Besiktas would take Poku to the Super Lig less than a year after his arrival in Germany. However, there is no indication from the available information that an agreement has been reached, and the player remains contracted to Leverkusen through the end of the 2029-30 season.
