Bernard Mensah scored a crucial goal in the 81st minute to seal Al Riyadh’s 2-1 victory over Al Fateh FC in a thrilling Saudi Pro League encounter on Thursday evening at the Al Fateh Club Stadium.
The match began with Al Fateh taking the lead in the dying seconds of the first half, as Sofiane Bendebka’s strike from the centre of the box found the bottom left corner in the third minute of added time. However, Al Riyadh responded strongly after the break, with Ahmed Asiri’s header from a corner leveling the score at 1-1 in the 61st minute.
As the match neared its conclusion, it was Bernard Mensah who proved to be the difference. The Ghanaian midfielder latched onto a well-placed pass and delivered a right-footed shot from the centre of the box into the heart of the goal to put Al Riyadh ahead.
Mensah’s goal, his third of the season, handed Al Riyadh their first win against Al Fateh, who had drawn both previous encounters with them. The win boosts Al Riyadh’s momentum as they look ahead to their next match against Al-Orobah FC on December 6th.
