Bernard Kaanjuka, the coach of the Namibian national football team, the Brave Warriors, resigned from his position following the team’s defeat (0-1) against Malawi in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. In a letter addressed to the Namibian Football Federation (NFA), Kaanjuka expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to coach the team but acknowledged his failure to meet the objectives of qualifying for both the Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup.
In his resignation letter, Kaanjuka thanked the NFA from the bottom of his heart for the coaching opportunity, but he believed it was time to part ways due to his perceived failure in achieving the qualification goals set for the team.
In response to his resignation, the Namibian Football Federation issued a press release accepting Kaanjuka’s decision to step down as the interim coach of the Brave Warriors. With Kaanjuka’s departure, the federation announced that Namibia is now in search of a new coach to lead the national team.
The resignation and subsequent search for a new coach indicate a significant change in the leadership of the Namibian national football team and suggest that the federation is looking for a fresh start to improve the team’s performance in future competitions.
