Karim Benzema makes position clear ahead of Real Madrid presidential elections
The race for the presidency of Real Madrid is gathering momentum as club members prepare to vote on Sunday, June 7, with current president Florentino Perez facing competition from Enrique Riquelme.
As anticipation builds around the elections, many supporters have been eager to know where former club legends stand ahead of the crucial vote. Former captain Karim Benzema has now made his position public.
The current Al-Hilal striker shared a photo on social media alongside Florentino Perez while holding the 2022 Ballon d’Or trophy, a gesture widely interpreted as a clear endorsement of the long-serving club president.
According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Benzema’s post leaves little doubt about his support for Perez, who consistently backed the striker during some of the most difficult moments of his career in Madrid.
Many supporters have long viewed Benzema as one of Perez’s most trusted players during his time at the club. The French forward spent 14 successful years at Real Madrid after arriving from Olympique Lyonnais in 2009 before leaving Saudi Arabia in 2023.
