Benjamin Mokulu: DR Congo-Belgian striker joins Acireale on free transfer from Heraclea

Acireale have signed DR Congo and Belgium forward Benjamin Mokulu on a free transfer from Italian side Heraclea. The 36-year-old centre-forward has agreed a deal running until 30 June 2027 with the Serie D club.

Mokulu, who was born in Brussels and stands at 1.87m, arrives as an experienced attacking option and is predominantly left-footed. He links up with Acireale after his stint at Heraclea, remaining in Italian football as he continues his career in the country.

The forward’s move comes with his current market value listed at around €50,000, underlining Acireale’s decision to secure the veteran without paying a transfer fee. His contract length gives the club security over the next season as they shape their squad.

Mokulu has experience of silverware from earlier in his career, having lifted the Belgian Cup in 2012 with KSC Lokeren. That success adds to a lengthy professional journey which has taken in multiple clubs and leagues across Europe.

Capable of leading the line through the middle, Mokulu is expected to operate in his natural centre-forward role for his new side. His height and physical profile give Acireale a different option at the top of the pitch.

The move, completed on 25 July 2026, ties Mokulu to Acireale until the end of June 2027 following his free transfer departure from Heraclea.
