Benjamin Kimpioka: Sweden-DR Congo winger joins Asteras Aktor on free transfer
Sweden-DR Congo winger Benjamin Kimpioka has joined Greek side Asteras Aktor on a free transfer from Turkish club Sivasspor. The 26-year-old left-sided attacker has signed a deal running until 30 June 2028 with the Super League 1 outfit.
Kimpioka, who prefers to operate as a left winger and stands at 1.85m, arrives in Greece after a spell in Turkey that included a loan to Portuguese club Tondela last season. He returns to top-flight football, having already featured in the Greek Super League, where he made six appearances and scored once earlier in his career.
Born in Knivsta, Sweden, Kimpioka has represented clubs in several European leagues, including the Scottish Premiership with St Johnstone and the Allsvenskan with AIK. His move to St Johnstone from AIK and subsequent switch to Sivasspor were also secured as free transfers, underlining a career marked by frequent changes of environment across different competitions.
The winger’s record includes experience in England’s League One, the National League and Premier League 2 during his time with Sunderland, where he progressed from the under-18s to the first team. He was part of the Sunderland side that lifted the Football League Trophy in the 2020-21 season and has also won the Swiss third tier earlier in his career.
With an estimated market value of €400,000 at the time of the move, Kimpioka now begins a new chapter at Asteras Aktor, committing his prime years to the Greek club on a contract through to 2028.
