Benjamin Angoua Joins Guingamp After Valenciennes Exit
Ivorian defender Benjamin Angoua has officially signed with Ligue 1 side Guingamp following his departure from relegated Valenciennes. The Breton club confirmed the move on its official website, announcing that Angoua has signed a one-year contract.
Angoua, 27, was out of contract after four and a half seasons at Valenciennes, during which he made over 100 appearances. A consistent performer in the French top flight, his exit marks another significant loss for Valenciennes as they prepare for life in Ligue 2 following their relegation last season.
The former Africa Sports player began his European career in Hungary with Honvéd, where he featured in more than 80 matches before making the switch to France in 2010.
Known for his strength and aerial ability, Angoua brings experience and stability to Guingamp’s backline as the club looks to build on its recent campaigns. The Ivorian international’s arrival is expected to bolster the squad’s defensive options heading into the new Ligue 1 season.
