Samadou Attidjikou appears set to leave Al Masry this summer, as the Beninese midfielder finds himself no longer part of the club’s future plans under newly appointed head coach Nabil Kouki.
The 22-year-old, who made a name for himself at the Port Said club through his determination and work ethic on the pitch, is facing a critical juncture in his career following an injury that sidelined him during a key CAF Confederation Cup fixture last season.
That setback, combined with a change in management, has shifted the outlook on his role at Al Masry.
Attidjikou has not been integrated into the squad’s main pre-season preparations and has instead been limited to individual training sessions since the arrival of Kouki, who is keen to reshape his team ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
The Tunisian coach is said to be seeking reinforcements that align with his tactical vision as Al Masry looks to make a stronger impact both in the Egyptian Premier League and on the continental stage.
According to a source within the club, the former Dynamo Parakou player is not meeting the expectations set by Kouki and has consequently been deemed surplus to requirements.
“The new coach has asked the Al Masry board to seek offers for Samadou Attidjikou as he is not responding as he wants,” the source revealed.
As a result, Al Masry’s management is actively exploring loan opportunities for Attidjikou during the ongoing transfer window. The decision comes as the club intensifies its preparations for a season that includes renewed ambitions in the CAF Confederation Cup, a competition where Attidjikou previously played a pivotal role before his injury.
The midfielder’s likely departure marks a stark contrast to the promise he once showed when he first joined the Egyptian outfit.
Known for his tireless engine and defensive awareness, Attidjikou had established himself as a reliable presence in the middle of the park. However, his progress has been hindered by injury setbacks and changing managerial expectations.
Despite the current situation, there remains hope that a temporary move could provide the platform he needs to regain his form and confidence. At just 22, Attidjikou still has time on his side, and a successful loan spell could reignite his career trajectory, whether at Al Masry or elsewhere.
As the summer window progresses, the club’s focus remains on finalising reinforcements that align with Kouki’s vision while finding suitable destinations for players no longer in contention for first-team action.
Attidjikou, a full international with Benin, is among those now seeking a fresh start after a challenging period in his young career.
For now, his departure seems more a matter of when than if, as both club and player prepare for what appears to be an imminent separation.
