Beninese goalkeeper Serge Obassa is on the verge of completing a move to Rwandan side Mukura Victory Sports FC, with talks reportedly in their final stages.
The 28-year-old, who currently plays for Remo Stars FC in Nigeria, has emerged as a priority target for the Rwandan club.
According to sources close to the negotiations, Mukura officials have made significant progress in securing Obassa’s services and now consider the transfer all but done, pending a few final contractual details.
“All the major points have been agreed,” a source close to the deal revealed. “It’s just a matter of finalising the remaining technicalities before the move becomes official.”
Obassa had previously been linked with another Rwandan outfit, APR FC, but Mukura Victory Sports have moved swiftly to outpace the competition and bring the highly rated shot-stopper into their ranks.
The Beninese international has enjoyed a standout 2024/25 season in the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL), proving instrumental in Remo Stars’ title-winning campaign.
His performances between the posts earned him widespread recognition, with a commanding presence that brought stability and confidence to his team’s defensive unit.
Obassa featured in 28 matches throughout the season, keeping 15 clean sheets and conceding just 17 goals.
His consistency and reliability made him a cornerstone of Remo Stars’ historic success and one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the league.
Known for his sharp reflexes and calmness under pressure, Obassa is expected to bring immediate quality to Mukura’s goalkeeping department.
His arrival would be seen as a major coup for the Rwandan club, which is aiming to build a more competitive squad ahead of the new season.
As both clubs edge toward a formal announcement, anticipation is building among Mukura fans eager to see whether Obassa can replicate the same commanding form that made him a standout figure in Nigeria’s top flight.
Should the move go through, Obassa will be joining a side looking to reassert itself in the Rwandan Premier League, with hopes that his experience and leadership will help anchor a squad keen to compete for silverware.
