Candas Fiogbé returns to Atalanta after loan spell in Greece

The summer of 2026 is shaping up to be a decisive moment in the career of Candas Fiogbé, as the young striker returns to Atalanta BC following a loan spell in Greece that helped him regain form and confidence.

The 21-year-old forward left Atalanta’s U23 setup in February after struggling for consistency at the start of the season.

Seeking more regular playing time, he moved to Greece where he joined PAS Giannina FC on loan.

Although the early stages of his adaptation proved challenging, Fiogbé gradually found his rhythm and showed resilience in a new environment.

His performances improved steadily as he settled into the team and adjusted to the demands of a different league.

Since joining PAS Giannina, the Beninese striker has featured in seven of a possible ten matches and scored three goals, highlighting his growing effectiveness in front of goal.

His progress was briefly interrupted by a minor injury that kept him out for three games, but he was able to return and continue contributing to the team.

Back at Atalanta, Fiogbé now faces an important decision regarding his development ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The club must decide how best to integrate the striker into their long-term plans.

One option is for Fiogbé to remain at Atalanta and attempt to break into the reserve team setup, where he would need to demonstrate continued improvement in order to secure a more prominent role.

The alternative is another loan move, which would give him the opportunity to gain further first-team experience and maintain regular playing time throughout the season.

Fiogbé’s talent has not been in question, but his career progression will depend heavily on choosing the right environment to ensure consistency and continued development.

The coming transfer window is therefore expected to be a key period in shaping his next steps, as he aims to establish himself at a higher level and fulfil his potential in professional football.
