Benin international striker Andreas Hountondji completes move to Burnley FC

Benin striker Andreas Hountondji has signed a four-year contract with Burnley FC, the English club announced on Wednesday, AfricaSoccer.com can confirm

Hountondji, 22, joins from French club SM Caen for an undisclosed fee and will play in the Championship, the second English division.

He expressed his excitement about the move, citing the club’s interest in him and the opportunity to play in English football.

“I am very excited! I chose to come here because of the great interest shown by the club. It is a club that gives opportunities to young players, so that is one of the main reasons why I chose to be here, and I love English football,” Hountondji said.

He also praised the club’s values and principles, which align with his own.

“I spoke with the boss, and it was a very good discussion. We talked about values, principles, and our way of playing. It was perfect for me,” he added.

Hountondji had a great season in the French Ligue 2 with Rodez, scoring 16 goals and providing 4 assists in 39 games last season.

He will now look to continue his progression with Burnley FC and potentially reach the Premier League next season.
