Steve Mounié has reached double figures for decisive contributions this season, underlining a strong start to the 2025-26 campaign for the Benin international following his latest goal for Alanyaspor in the Turkish Süper Lig.
The centre-forward opened his league account for the club at the weekend, taking his total to 10 direct involvements across all competitions since the season resumed.
The tally, which combines goals and assists, reflects a productive spell for a player keen to reassert himself after a challenging period away from regular football.
Mounié’s impact has been particularly visible at club level. In 11 appearances for Alanyaspor, he has already found the net six times, offering consistency and reliability in the final third.
His performances suggest that a move away from Ligue 1 has not dulled his attacking instincts, with the striker continuing to demonstrate the sharpness and awareness that have defined much of his career.
Internationally, the 30-year-old has also carried his form into matches with the Benin national team. As captain of the Cheetahs, he has contributed two goals and two assists, setting the tone through leadership and influence.
His ability to lead by example has been evident, particularly through his intelligent movement in the penalty area and his effectiveness in aerial duels, a long-standing strength of his game.
Mounié’s current run comes after a period of transition in his career. Having impressed previously at Montpellier and later in the Premier League with Huddersfield Town, he went on to become an important figure at Stade Brestois, where he spent four seasons as a central attacking presence.
In the summer of 2024, he opted for a new challenge in Germany, but struggled to secure a regular place and consistent minutes.
That experience prompted a loan move to Turkey this season, a decision aimed at regaining momentum and confidence.
So far, the move appears to be paying dividends, with Mounié benefiting from sustained playing time and a system that allows him to play to his strengths.
While the season is still in its early stages, his numbers already point to a player rediscovering rhythm and purpose.
For both club and country, Mounié’s contributions are proving decisive, reinforcing his reputation as a forward capable of delivering goals and leadership when it matters most.
