Portuguese Primeira giants SL Benfica remain keen on signing Algerian forward Mohamed Amoura.
German outlet Bild initially claimed Benfica had withdrawn from negotiations with Wolfsburg due to two main factors, including Kerem Aktürkoglu’s unexpected decision to remain at the club and Benfica’s reluctance to meet Wolfsburg’s financial demands. Amoura had been identified as a potential replacement for the Turkish winger.
However, Belgian transfer insider Sacha Tavolieri reports that Aktürkoglu’s move to Fenerbahce could still materialise.
Should that deal go through, Benfica are expected to return for Amoura and attempt to negotiate a fee below Wolfsburg’s €40 million valuation.
The situation remains fluid, but Amoura continues to be firmly on Benfica’s radar as they assess their attacking options ahead of the new season.
There should be more clarity on the matter next week.
