Benfica have stepped up their pursuit of Algerian winger Anis Hadj Moussa, submitting an improved offer to Feyenoord Rotterdam in an effort to seal a deal during the current summer transfer window.
The Portuguese giants have made the 21-year-old a top target and are accelerating negotiations to bring the international to Lisbon.
According to Portuguese media, Benfica has increased its bid to €18 million, following an earlier €12 million proposal that was widely dismissed by the Dutch press as “ridiculous.”
As reported by A Bola, the Eagles have now added a further €3 million in potential bonuses to sweeten the offer, raising the total package to €21 million.
However, Feyenoord remains unmoved.
The Rotterdam club has once again rejected the proposal, insisting they will only consider selling Hadj Moussa if they receive an “irrefutable” offer.
The stance from Feyenoord is backed firmly by manager Robin van Persie, who is determined to keep the Algerian winger at the club for the upcoming campaign.
Van Persie, who took the reins ahead of the 2024–25 season, reportedly views Hadj Moussa as a central figure in his tactical plans.
The former Dutch striker is said to be personally involved in discussions surrounding the player’s future and has made it clear that losing him at this stage would be a significant blow to the team’s ambitions.
Hadj Moussa joined Feyenoord in the summer of 2024 from Belgian outfit Patro Eisden for a fee of €3.5 million.
Since then, his rise has been swift and impressive.
In his debut season, he featured in 43 matches across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and contributing six assists — performances that have drawn widespread attention and elevated his market value to around €14 million.
Benfica, though eager, are not the only club in pursuit.
Interest has reportedly come from Olympique de Marseille and Liverpool, both of whom are monitoring the situation closely.
The competition could further complicate negotiations as Feyenoord continues to resist letting go of one of their breakout stars.
With weeks remaining in the transfer window, Hadj Moussa’s future remains uncertain — but it is clear that his name will feature prominently in one of the window’s most closely followed sagas.
