Ben Ramadan’s Al Shamal move hits stumbling block over Al Ahly financial row

Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan’s proposed transfer from Al Ahly to Qatari club Al Shamal has hit an unexpected delay after the Tunisian midfielder and the Egyptian giants failed to reach an agreement over a final financial settlement.

The midfielder was expected to travel to Doha to complete the remaining formalities of his move, including his medical examination, but his departure has been postponed due to the unresolved issue between him and Al Ahly.

According to reports, Al Ahly requested Ben Ramadan to sign a final settlement agreement as part of the process to officially close his chapter at the club before his exit.

However, the Tunisian international has reportedly refused to sign the document because of his disagreement over financial deductions previously imposed on him by the club.

The deductions were reportedly made following Al Ahly’s failure to secure major honours, including the league title and African competitions, with Ben Ramadan now seeking clarification and settlement of those outstanding amounts before approving his departure.

Meanwhile, the player has already agreed personal terms with Al Shamal and signed his contract, while Al Ahly and the Qatari club have also reached an agreement over the transfer.

The only obstacle preventing the completion of the deal is the financial settlement between Ben Ramadan and Al Ahly, with both sides expected to continue discussions in an attempt to find a solution.

If an agreement is reached, the 26-year-old midfielder will travel to Qatar to undergo his medical tests and complete the final steps of his move to Al Shamal.
