Absent on March 5 for the friendly match against Belgium as part of FIFA Day, Boubacar Copa Barry has returned to training this Tuesday.
The Lokeren goalkeeper has fully recovered and is even eligible to play in the championship with his team this weekend. Having suffered from a calf strain prior to the friendly against Belgium, Copa Barry is expected to be at the disposal of his coach for the final match of the regular season, facing Lierse this weekend.
In July 2003, Copa Barry joined the Belgian club KSK Beveren (a D1 club) where he cemented his position as a starter. He was recognized as the second-best goalkeeper in Belgium and, alongside his teammates, reached the final of the Belgian Cup and secured qualification for the UEFA Cup. Pleased with his performances, the leadership of KSK Beveren offered him a three-year contract which concluded in June 2007.
In July 2007, following the end of his contract with KSK Beveren, the Ivorian international signed with Sporting Lokeren (Belgian D1). In 2009, he was honored as the best goalkeeper in the Jupiler Pro League.
