Michy Batshuayi Impresses with Belgium in 5-0 Win Over Cyprus, Coach Marc Wilmots Praises His Finishing
Michy Batshuayi continues to make waves with both Belgium and Olympique de Marseille. The striker wasted no time in finding the back of the net during Belgium’s 5-0 demolition of Cyprus on Saturday. Batshuayi, who has been in excellent form for Marseille with three braces in his last five matches, has now caught the eye of Belgian coach Marc Wilmots.
Wilmots, speaking to L’Équipe, was full of praise for Batshuayi’s goal-scoring abilities. “He’s a striker who, out of 10 chances, will put 6 or 7 in the net, he’s a real goalscorer,” said the Belgian manager. However, Wilmots also urged Batshuayi to remain patient, continue his hard work, and let his qualities shine through. “He must remain patient, continue to work and keep his mouth shut. Then his qualities will emerge.”
With Belgium facing Israel on Tuesday evening, Batshuayi will have another opportunity to impress his coach and possibly secure a more prominent role in the team moving forward. If he continues his strong performances, Batshuayi could become a key figure for Belgium in upcoming competitions.
