Belgian-Ghanaian winger Jeremy Doku commits future to Man City with 2031 deal

Jeremy Doku has described his new Manchester City contract as “a fantastic feeling” after committing his future to the club until the summer of 2031.

The Belgium international has extended his stay at the Etihad after three years at the club, having joined from Stade Rennais in 2023. The 24-year-old has since established himself as an important part of City’s attacking options, making 131 appearances and scoring 22 goals.

Doku says he is settled in Manchester and believes the environment at City has played a major role in his development, both on and off the pitch.

“I have loved my time at City so far, so to have the opportunity to stay for longer is a fantastic feeling,” Doku said. “This club means so much to me – I have developed as both a player and a person.”

The winger has already collected five major trophies during his time with City and is now looking forward to adding to that haul as the club enters a new era under Enzo Maresca.

Doku backs Maresca project

Maresca’s arrival has further strengthened Doku’s belief that he can continue to thrive at City, with the winger expressing excitement about the Italian’s approach ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

“With Enzo here now I am really excited about the new season. His style of football is the kind we love, so that’s exciting for the players,” he said.

Doku also credited City’s coaching staff for helping him improve consistently since his arrival.

“I feel settled here, and I know I am improving every day because of the work the staff here do,” he added.

The Belgian believes the club’s support system has been crucial to his progress and says he does not take the opportunity to develop at one of Europe’s leading clubs for granted.

“It’s hard to explain just how much this club does to help players. I don’t take it for granted and it makes me better,” Doku said.

Fans play key role in new deal

While the club’s sporting project and Maresca’s appointment have influenced his decision, Doku revealed that City’s supporters were also a major factor behind his decision to sign a long-term extension.

“The City fans are also a huge reason I have signed this new contract. I feel their love and support, and it means the world to me. I want to focus of bringing them the success they deserve.”

With his future secured for the next five years, Doku will now turn his attention to helping Maresca’s side compete for more silverware and strengthen his growing legacy at the Etihad.
