Hamdi Harbaoui, the Tunisian striker for Lokeren, once again proved his worth during the semi-final second leg match against Ostend, securing a crucial goal in the 3rd minute to secure a 1-1 draw. This goal, coupled with his earlier goal in the first leg (1-1), helped his team secure their spot in the final against Zulte-Waregem on March 22.
Lokeren clinched their final berth after a nerve-wracking penalty shootout victory (9-8). Meanwhile, Zulte-Waregem advanced to the final by holding Ghent to a goalless draw (0-0) in the second leg, following their 1-0 win in the first leg.
Harbaoui’s impressive goal-scoring form has made him the second-highest scorer in the Jupiler Pro League this season. With fourteen goals to his name, he trails only Standarman Michy Batshuayi, who leads the scoring charts.
Having played in Belgium since 2008 and for Lokeren since 2011, Harbaoui has established himself as a prolific striker. Prior to his time at Lokeren, he had stints at Mouscron (2008), Visé (2008-2010), and Oud-Heverlee Louvain (2010-2011).
